PostSubject: Two Training Methods to Increase Reps   Tue Jan 05, 2010 2:53 pm

Hey guys.
I took the time and wrote down two methods that I use to increase reps on exercises. I saved them as .pdf files.

Method #1: High Volume Training
High Volume Training to Increase Reps.pdf

Method #2: Greasing the Groove
Greasing the Groove to Increase Reps.pdf

If you have any questions about any of those methods feel free to ask.
I will soon post some methods for strength training, too.

no i wouldn't Smile but you should ask someone who is a native speaker of english.

about a topic.
You explained it very good. I understand everything.
That training methods are nice. Will test it in nearest future, but this month im doing other method Smile
Its great idea to post methods/programs/routines in .pdfs. Is better to read them.

hehe Very Happy certainly Wink so question is redirected to native speakers.

thanks. good to have some feedback
thats good. always stick to your method and give it at least some time to show results. jumping from method to method weekly isn't good.

thats exactly why I posted them in pdf.
1. you can explain better in pdf's
2. you can answer questions that could come up in the FAQ beforehand
3. people can save it and don't need internet to review it.

THIS IS.... AWESOME, not Sparta. My max on friday on pushups was 34, and I did 25 pushups and 5 pullups every 30mins from 10am to 10pm on Saturday, on Sunday my chest was sore so I took a day off, and today (monday) it wasnt, so I tried my max before going to school. Can you believe it? I scored 44, thanks Taiga Very Happy...

Depends on your work capacity and if you're used to it or not.

For high volume training about 3-4 times a week is right
For GTG you can do it from monday to saturday and rest on sunday (just make sure that there's no fatigue building up)

Remember how powerful the mind is Ken, when you tell yourself you cant do anymore, you can generally get 2-5 more reps if you really push yourself.

First of all, I wouldn't recommend training the body in "muscle groups",
your body isn't supposed to work in isolation, it is supposed to work together as a team player, that's why I recommend either Upper Body, Lower Body splits or Full Body workouts.

Generally, training everyday can be done, if you use an upper body and lower body split. Of course you can train upper body on consecutive days to but you should note that the intensity you can workout with will drop drastically after a few days (I just had a preparation week for gymnastics and I trained heavily on the rings, parallel bars and the pommel horse for 5 consecutive days 2 1/2 hours each day, and by the fourth day you start noticing the built up fatigue, of course if you are used to it you can get through it better than a total beginner, and the human body can get used to pretty much anything).

So: if you are a beginner, you should either start out with an upper body/lower body/rest/repeat plan or a fullbody/rest/repeat plan. Remember that recovery is just as important as the workout itself.

If you are intermediate and want to try it, you should drop the intensity and the duration of the everday workout and keep note on how you feel and progress and then you can make the workouts longer and more intense as time goes by.

As always. Listen to your body, it will tell you whats right and what isn't.

Hope I could help.

thanks
with "every muscle group" i meant fullbody workout (sry for my bad english)
i guess me as beginner will be doing the fullbody/rest plan, that sounds great to me Very Happy

rly appreciate your help, thanks again

hi Taiga
i've been trying to increase my pull up reps and this tutorial workout looked great! i can only do about 10-12 reps for about 3-4sets
so I did a work out with HVT, it was:

25x 5 front squats @40kg
5 pull ups
45 sec rest

do you think the high amount of sets is a bad thing?

Taiga, first of all, thanks for your help and your awesome tutorial, but i have just one question: how many reps i must do? for example, if i do 50reps on max test, how many reps i must do every hour/30min? Or if i do 70 reps on max test, how many reps i must do?
must i do half of max test reps? must i do just 25 reps no matter what the max reps are?

thanks Wink
