PostSubject: Your opinion on Creatine   Fri Oct 23, 2009 3:45 pm

With powerlifts and sprints, there are a whole slew of studies as to how the increased phosphate storage in muscles contributes to short feats of strength. My question is, would the pursuit of higher reps-which is essentially endurance-benefit from creatine supplementation?

Do any of you guys use it and notice performance increases? Hypertrophy is not important to me.

improvement in muscular strength will lead to improvement in muscular endurance.

i personally dont take it but if u want that extra edge go for it. creatine will give you more energy during a high intensity workout.

your body naturally makes creatine. all your doing when taking it is adding more faster andf in higher doses. so it will make your muscles grow faster than they would without taking it.

How about the Protein Extreme Complex advertised on the home page. I recently bought a jar and the stuff is pretty decent. Tastes like chocolate milk with milk and leaves me completely energized and feeling great. Bit on the expensive side though.

PostSubject: Protein supplements..   Mon Feb 01, 2010 12:37 pm

Most of the serious bar-brothers are probably taking supplements, because of the physically exhausting workouts they endure.
If you are working out for 3-4 hours/ day.. You will def need to walk around with protein bars, shakes.. it would be almost impossible to keep eating at a rate which allows for enough intake of vital nutrients, while exercising at (the bar-barians) a ridiculous pace.

So techically, they need the supplements... its just not something that every person should grab for when they start training...
Its the marketing that makes it tempting for others who are looking for a certain edge, or advantage.. When in fact, it could have less then desirable effects....

.... take it.

Your body produces creatin (which later produces energy) so there is no need to take it. The bodybuilding world brought us this disaster (along with overtraining [ overtonis ] and steroids) by way of professional athletics (steroids, overpaid athletes) and large, supplement companies.

My advice would be:

a. Stay away from Creatin supplementation.
b. Take a multi-vitamin and an Omega III.
c. REST. Drink plenty of clean, pure water.
d. Have a glass of red wine after a TOUGH workout.

Hey Weedie,
My apologies for the late reply.. I have been MIA from the forums for sometime now..
I normally add in a 1 large Banana, 1 cup of strawberries, 1 cup of blueberries, 2 ounce's of Pomegranate Juice, 2 ounces of Acai Berry Juice and 2 Tablespoons of Hemp Seed Hearts (Shelled)..Finally adding in 1 cup of either Rice Milk, Grapefruit, Apple or Orange Juice.

I enjoy one large glass in the morning and 1 glass after my workouts.

If you take creatine you have to cycle (on and off) because your body will stop producing creatine itself otherwise. Kre-alkalyn is a newer form of creatin which doesn't convert to Creatinine in the body and therefore doesn't harm your organs as much. Anyway if you take creatine and drink a lot of water, there are studies that show there are no side-effects (long-term studies over 5 years). If you take kre-alkalyn you don't have to worry about that.

Anyway.
1. Can be a good addition if taken properly
2. Isn't really necessary and:
3. Personally I only take one multivitamin+minerals a day and eat healthy, that's it.

On a side note:
Protein can't be digested without fat, so if you take protein shakes or something of the like, have some fat with it.

that's right.
eating carbs with fat -> moderate insulin response
eating protein with fat -> moderate glucagon response
eating protein with carbs and fat -> huge insulin response

Wouldn't the high insulin response actually be a good thing for a post-workout meal though? Also, what's your opinion on whole grains with high fiber content that makes for a lower insulin response (due to the low glycemic response, or slower blood sugar level spike meaning less of an insulin response).
