PostSubject: How I break my pull up plateau...   Tue Mar 08, 2016 10:51 am

Maybe this will help to someone to increase their pull ups..Sry for bad english. Smile

Whatever I did I could not break my 20 pull up record. I tried so hard and no results. So I tried next:

1st day: Grease and groove. I do 5-6 sets of max pull ups per day, so u can pause one hour between sets, u need to be totally rest for next max set.

2nd day: Thick bar pull ups, 90 sec pause, 8-10 sets.

3rd day: Towel pull ups, or very slow pull ups, 90 sec pause, 8-10 sets.

4th day: Weighted pull ups, I do with 55kg plates, I still cant do with 60kg (working on it)...after that u do one set BW max.

next day rest day.

I don't do only pull ups every day. I do weighted push ups (15kg), levers, oblique, planche training, sit ups, dips, handstand push ups..Implement everything u want in your pull up training.

Maybe I couldn't break my plateau because I gain 10kg, I had 80 now I'm 90kg. Now after 5 weeks of this training I manage to do 21 pull up, and today I did 23. Its imperative that u do them to max. I know that many people who goes to gym finish their training in one hour, but I have pull up bar at home and I can train whole day. For me this GTG is the best thing for increase pull up number in short time. If I manage to break my plateau u can do so. And remember this, plateau don't exist. Cheers.

Nice, GTG works for many ppl, i dont like it much for "working out" cause i prefer a more stractured plan with warm up and cooldown/streching, but its great for skills that's for sure.

I wanted once to do 30 pull ups in a set (not perfect form though i must admitt....) so i named a workout WAY to 30.

It was liek this
2sets of:
max pull ups, then rest like 5-10seconds max again till u reach 30 reps, then rest 4-5mins and do the 2nd set (of 30 pull ups)
rest again 4-5minsa
and then the plan was to do pull ups (changing varations here is ok)
10-9-....-1 with low rest, but most of the times the rest were much greater than i wanted...

rested like 5-6mins and did something similar with dips
and also adding some push ups in the end.

soem core workout and this is a nice upper body workout.

It helped me do once 30 pull ups in a set (along with weighted pull ups in other day).
So i posted in case u want to try it.

ps: I think plateaus is mostly mental than physical. Same goes for "max" reps, real max isnt where we usually stops.
