Which book should i get in order to read about the most basic stuff on how to build muscles, get in shape and getting skilled with the workouts?

I have heard good about the following and especially Al kavaldos' book.

- Overcoming gravity.
- Building the gymnastic body.
- Never gymless.
- Rasing the bar.
- Convict conditioning.
- You are your own gym.

Or you know other books I havnt read about?

And please no "all you need to know is on the web" comments :-)

I've only read Never Gymless and I thought it was great. Ross shows complete body exercises (one legged squats aka pistols, how to use your bodyweight for hamstring exercises, core upper body). Its really good, one of my favorites for over 5 years.

Overcoming Gravity offers by far the most comprehensive overview of all bodyweight training. Also has an excellent section on injuries. It gets my vote.

Convict Conditioning has some very good progressions for various exercises, eg. OAC, pistols.

Building The Gymnastic Body is pretty advanced. Given the titles you're considering, I would say this is too advanced for you (as it is for me).

I don't really rate Al's book at all (a shame as I love his blog and videos).

Hope this helps.
