PostSubject: Cheese in your diet   Thu Jan 17, 2013 5:57 pm

Hi guys, this is my first post on this forum although i have been visiting on a regular basis.
Thanks to everyone for sharing the wealth of info and thanks in advance to whoever would spend some time answering my question.

I am wondering how many of you have incorporated full fat cheese in their diet.
I am guessing that a few of you may eat cottage cheese which is quite popular amongst the bodybuilders. My question here relates more to full fat cheese i.e with 30 to 45 % fat.

Do you think it is a no go due to high fat content?

*shrugs* Fat isn't bad for you (infact it's a necessity for your bodies well being) it's the type and quantity in relation to the rest of what you eat/do that can cause issues.

I eat a tonne of hard cheeses (cheddar/red leicester etc).

I eat 1/2lb. blocks with nuts, fruit for snack. But it is the raw sheep or goat only.Sheep cheese is highest in calories fat. You will gain some muscle if you train hard and know how when to add it into your diet.

Is it cool to just have a chunk of cheese like Emmental? xD I was hungry and got about 150 grs to munch. It has loads of protein but fat too. Sure thing it was a great snack.

I eat lots of cheese too. I try and buy organic (which I do with all dairy products) but otherwise I probably have 30g a day, sometimes 50g, sometimes more.

You just need to make sure it fits into how you want to eat (trying not to use the phrase "if it fits your macros", but...). For example I eat a low carb high fat diet, so cheese has a place. If you're eating a high carb diet and getting most of your cals from potatoes, bread etc. then eating a metric tonne of cheese will do you no favours at all.
