PostSubject: Thinking about Starting out.   Sat Jul 14, 2012 6:34 pm

Hey guys, I've been reading a lot about calisthenics and body weight training on this website and various other forums. I've been weight training for years now, I've gotten awesome gains, size, shape, strength. But I always believe in switching up routines. And calisthenics is just a different type of strength and athleticism for me. There is WAY too much info out there, I just kind of need help streamlining the process of switching over.

I did the exact same thing as you when i started i came into calisthenics with a weightlifting back round there is a lot of info out but all you need are the basics for now. I basically did 5 sets of pullups max out, 5 sets of dips max out, 10 sets of pushups max out, super-setted rows and tricep extensions, and supper-setted chinups with bench dips. Pretty much get your reps up with the basics once your reps are higher add a light vest, variations to exercises, statics, more weight, pyramids and start over again. I am100% calisthenics but i still deadlift/squat to maintain total power it is necessary to me. Just blast the basics/core/legs weekly and see results weekly.Hope this helps some

What do you weigh.
how many pullups, pushups, dips can you do max each 1 set.

Ironloo, when you first started, did you max out on the basics everyday?

Yea pretty much but then i was still phasing out of weights and mixing calisthenics too the gains are slower that way. Also i took a day or two off now its everyday.

And Flip you are coming in with good numbers so you will progress faster and prob already built solid strength from the weights this will be an advantage to you.
