Excellent video DaWALLi, breaking the movement down into stages and the working on them like you've shown is the way to go...thanks for doing it.

It doesn't seem so daunting a task now...well, only slightly less so! Smile

Thanks guys!

Yeah, a lot of people are intimidated by the MU, and so was I when I first started out. Hard work and perseverance will get you through though.

Conquering the muscle up opens so many other doors in the calisthenics world.

I did a personal best of 10 muscle ups about 4 months ago - haven't tried since.

Check out Beastskills.com for a tutorial of the OAP.

Great tutorial!
I started to train with bars 1 month ago.
I really like it but I have some problems with those muscle ups.
Anyway, just a question: how do you work out?
I mean how often an how long during the week?
Do you only train with bars or you do something besides that?
Thanx a lot!!

Thanks Ghostrider. I work out almost everyday, but I really try and listen to my body and I'll take a rest if I feel I need it. I do mostly bar work now and I really enjoy hitting my core as well.

Sometimes my workouts are an hour, sometimes only 20 minutes depending on what I'm doing and the intensity.

I do a lot of the basics - push-ups, pull-ups, chin-ups, dips and muscle ups. Lots of variations, lot of reps, different hand positions, weighted, freestyle, etc.

Thank you very much for answering!
On Tuesday, I tried a routine you posted :

Push-ups - 30/29/28/27/26/25/24/23/22/21/20
Pull-ups - 10/9/8/7/6/5/5/5/5/5/5
Dips - 20/19/18/17/16/15/14/13/12/11/10
Chin-ups - 10/9/8/7/6/5/5/5/5/5/5

I did it in 50 minutes. I really liked it!
Do you think it s a good way to get ready for the req!
I wanna try to do it!
If you have some other routines, I ll be happy to try them!
Thanx in advance and thanx for inspiring!

Hey Daniel!
Thank you very much!
I'll try this tomorrow, and I'll let u know how it was.
Today I ve been working my typewriters, and I'm happy coz it's working, it's amazing how you can feel the progress day by day,
I still have problems with the MUs. I can't do more than 2.
I guess my technique is pretty bad!!
Anyway, working hard, I'll get it!
Big up, man!
See ya!

Yeah, half requirements is a great workout as well. And yes, all of these workouts will prepare you for getting the Bar-barians requirements!

I also did this one the other day, starting with the full requirements:

1. 40 dips, 20 pull-ups, 50 push-ups, 5 muscle ups (about 6 minutes)
2. 35 dips, 15 pull-ups, 45 push-ups, 5 muscle ups (had to break up some of the sets, but no problem, just do as many reps as you can, rest a little, and then complete the set)
3. 30 dips, 10 pull-ups, 40 push-ups, 5 muscle ups

Don't worry, the muscle ups will come. Just be patient. Sometimes you hit a brick wall with the muscle ups and you think you'll never get better, but if you're patient and train hard, they'll get better!

Hello guys,

Since it was my last day of the week, I wanted to try the req, so basically this is what I did:

40 dips
20 pull ups
35 push ups
15 chin ups (U know my problems with MUs)

I did that in 7'20 which I thing is pretty bad, but it's my first attempt.
Anyway, now I realize how huge is the difference between doing the req in 10min and doing it in 6 !! It's another story man!
Anyway, I m taking 2 days off, I think my shoulders are beggin for it!
And I start again next week!
Anyway, good week end to all!

PAX.

Good job ghostrider! And don't ever say it's pretty bad, because it never is! There are A LOT of people in this world who can't do anywhere near what you did in 7'20''. Anyway, keep working hard and striving to get better.

Negatives make anything and everything better, if they are slow and controlled Smile
