PostSubject: Handstands   Tue Jul 19, 2011 10:29 pm

Today I started to do hanstands, however I don't know exactly what i'm doing, what benefits do I get from this exercise? and i suppose that there is any difference if i do it with arms wide open etc etc like the push ups.. isn't?

Obviously it works your balance. In terms of muscles, fingers (for balance) then back and shoulders for support. You have to keep the rest of your body fairly tight too, so it also works core/glutes/legs but to a lesser extent and in a non direct way.

Just wider from shoulder width is the easiest in terms of balance, narrow and wider are harder. If you then do handstand press-ups then, as with push ups, different muscles are used more/less narrow, triceps, wider back.
