PostSubject: Chest pain while doing dips   Sun Jun 05, 2011 6:38 am

Hey, I get chest pains when i do dips, I read on a forum that some dude said that his trainer had told him that you can f**k up your chest doing dips. Now to my question, is there any dangers in doing dips? Can you get severe damages from it? What is causing the pain? Thanks.

Peace!

Never heard of dips damaging the chest... it can happen, that you will hurt your elbow or shoulders if you haven't warmed up yourself and your arms but not more oO

When I started doing dips, it put a lot of pressure on my sternum. My body accustromed to the pain and got stronger, so It no longer bothers me.

Is it your sternum that hurts, the bone in the middle of your chest or pectoral muscle pain?

Well if it is a sternum pain you could be attempting the dips on something a little too wide for you. If that could be the case, obviously try something a little close together... And try keeping your elbows close to your body not out.
