PostSubject: Pull up workouts   Tue Mar 29, 2011 10:56 pm

I do quite a few different pull up workouts where I switch up my grips, do weighted pull ups, pull ups for endurance, etc. I am looking for any new pull up routines that you do.

Example: Do 5 pull ups every minute for 20 minutes or sets of 2,4,6,8,10,8,6,4,2 in under 5 mins, etc.

Thanks for any help. I am looking to switch up my routine a little.

10 x 6 Pull-ups - 15secs rest between sets
1 min rest
10 x 5 Close grip Pull-ups - 15secs rest between sets
1 min rest
10 x 5 Pull-ups - 15secs rest between sets
1 min rest
10 x 4 Close grip Pull-ups - 15secs rest between sets
1 min rest
10 x 4 Pull-ups - 15secs rest between sets
1 min rest
10 x 3 Close grip Pull-ups - 15secs rest between sets
1 min rest
2 x 10 Pull-ups - 15secs rest between sets
10 Close grip Pull-ups - 15secs rest between sets

(yes the last 3 sets are sets of 10 NOT 10 sets of 2 or anything Smile )

Do 1,000 pull-ups in a day just outside shoulder width. You will get stronger from this it shocks the muscles.

Looks like a hell of a workout but I don't think I can get 300 pull ups in under 10 minutes. I could probably complete the workout if the time period was longer, but I guess this always could give me something to look forward to.....

Have you ever done 300 pull ups in the alloted time?

It's more like 30 mins for the 300, there's just over 20 mins of rest in there.

I was doing this about every day for a fortnight a couple of weeks back, followed by
3 x (4 x 25 push-ups, 15 secs rest) 1 min rest) for 300 push-ups too!

It was hard in the 9th and 10th set but not too bad Very Happy

depends when you start counting from, i've always done some form of weighted exercise since i was 18 (not necessarily too serious, but doing something never-the-less).

This specific routine took about 2 weeks to work up to it.

2 weeks since 18, or since you started bodyweight training?

erm, since I thought it'd be a fun routine to try Smile

Probably not the most helpful answer though...

I've specifically done only callisthenics for about 8 months now, but i was in pretty good shape before that anyway. (My maxes were around 10ish pull-ups, 100+ sit-ups and 40ish press-ups before solely focusing on callisthenics)

For some kind of perspective, my "post breakfast, start the day off" routine is 50 dips, 30 pull-ups, 60 press-ups, 10 explosive close grips pullups, core work(leg raises etc). With minimal rest (<5 seconds if I can't quite get the number...)
