What up everyone? I assume you know what this is and what its used for so I'll skip that part.

Long term Goals:
1. Muscle-Ups (just doing 1 is fine for me, for now)
2. Pull-Ups (would like to do 1 set of 10 reps, for now.)
3. Handstand and Planches (this is a big issue for me, balance and strength has to be developed, so its a distant goal for right now)

Goals for November/December:
100 Push-Up Challenge (http://hundredpushups.com/challenge.html)
200 Squat Challenge (http://www.twohundredsquats.com)
50 Pull-Up Challenge (http://www.fiftypullups.com)
200 Sit-Up Challenge (http://www.twohundredsitups.com)

Current Stats (as of 11-10-10 [Day 1])
45 Pushups
5 Pullups
55 Situps
75 Squats

For this month and maybe the next, I will aim for the rep challenges and heavy emphasis on pull-ups. Pavel's Fighter Pull-Up (http://www.kbnj.com/FighterPullupByPavel.htm) routine shows results as well . . .
I encourage you all to attempt the challenge, even if for kicks n giggles.

Welcome and good luck achieveing your goals! I too did some of those routines in the past, but they didn't suit me, so I started doing the "no routine - routine", it means you always do the basics but everytime try doing something different and harder... You can check my blog also, maybe you can find something useful there Smile.

Thanks Ken. I appreciate your insight on challenge routine. I'm doing the challenge as something like a bench mark and then progress to the harder stuff. . . Its a humbling stage at the moment, but if my research serves me correct, I should be poppin out muscle-ups by summer '11.
I did the no-routine routine and it is fun. The only issue with it for me is that I can't tell if the previous workout was effective or not. So by doing this, I should be getting better on "feeling an effective workout." Trippy thing is sometimes I'm sore, other times I'm not. What's your take on this?

just always push yourself, and mix it up!! if you want to do those routines, fine! great! as long as it works for you. But some days do supersets, some days do all sets max reps, some days do pyramids, etc. Dont get in a rut of doing the same things, by mixing it up you see progress.

Today, this morning, I did my challenge sets. . . Week 3, Day 3

Push-Ups : 20-30-20-20 (nice burn)
Squats: 30-40-30-30 (burns so good)

Gonna do Pull-Ups and situps later on today when I go to the bar.
Pull-Ups: 5-4-3-2-1
Sit-Ups: 30-40-30-30

Still a lil sore, but it is what it is.

The thing about soreness is: Every day I try to give my max on the bar and on the pushups and dips, sometimes I do them with weight, sometimes not, sometimes supersets, ladders, dirty 30's, sets with "last rep looking like the first" etc. Last couple of weeks I've been madly sore after wednesday, and when I felt that I need to give myself 2 days off and then started off fresh, now I've trained 6 days in a row, which is really a mystery why I'm not sore yet, so I'll be MAXing out till I get sore, NO rest days before I'm sore!!! That's my understanding and that's my body, see what works for you Wink.

Right on Ken. Thats exactly what happens to me. Question bout the sets wit "last rep feels like the 1st." I was under the impression that if you go into the "go harder zone" to finish the set, no growth occurs. Can you shed some light on that? gonna try those on Monday, just to get a feel for it.

"Last rep like 1st rep" is like you do pullups if you see any change in form or slower pulling up, you immediately stop, don't even count the numbers, just be aware of how your body is moving. I did it last week when I felt a little sore, just to try it out, every set I felt stronger than the last one, because you don't go near failure... I just tried it and I liked it, but with this technique you should do A LOT OF SETS, for example I did 24 sets of dips, pullups and pushups when I tried this method... Rest times whatever you want just keep in mind the most important thing "last rep like the 1st rep" Razz. As for muscle-growth, I don't really pay a lot of attention to it, it will come when I master the basics and one day do the hardest moves possible, everything comes on the right time. But keep in mind that this only works for me, it may work for you too but I can't tell that Wink.

I see so even if the set is only 1 rep, its still effective?
I will try this out when I heal up. . . leg/core session yesterday got me like a old man today, lmao.
Gonna run a light upper body routine n stretch/flex. Bar-Dips and Muscle-Up Negs at first tho. . .

Yep, but then you have to have high volume, for example if you do 3x5 and your burnt out and can't do no more, that's 15 reps, but if you do like 20 sets of 1 rep and still feel like you can go on and on, then it should be more effective because you don't get tired and get more reps in Wink.

Hot damn its been a long while. I've been slacking and I won't even lie. Today is Fat Man Day and well, after I eat like a king n sleep like beast, gonna go hammer out my full body session.

@Ken I have tried your "last rep feels like the first" and while the challenge aspect felt like it wasnt there, I did get minor soreness in parts of my shoulders, arms n chest. Is it designed to build endurance, strength or something else?

Every body is different, I usually do this when I'm sore Very Happy... If your doing harder exercises then you're building strength, if easier then endurance lol, you can't say that this type of workout does one thing, other does the other, you just got to mix things up Smile.
