Hey guys

I've moved over to Singapore for work and looking to start a group over here.

For those of you who don't know me, I used to train with the boys down at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia.

Please make contact if you are based in Singapore or traveling through the area.

Cheers

Jarryd

Hi mate

Would love to say it's going well, but honestly I've not found anyone to date. Do you have a group of people?

I live on Orange Grove Road, just off Orchard.

Cheers.

nah its just me, sadly.have you been to any parks around the area that has decent bar facilities?at least parallel bars and chin up bars.

was looking at streetdirectory.com and came across malcolm park.its pretty near where you're at, just down stevens road towards whitley, opposite raffles town club.i've got a straight bus there too.

on a side note, i've been working out at the gym, bench presses and pulldowns etc.been a while since i attempted my max on the chin ups and dips.i reckon probably 14 chins now?haha but damn i cant do a single muscle up.

One is better than none, so good start.

I've been there, it's about 1.5km from my place. You reckon you could get a group together and we could meet for a session?

Cheers

i can try asking a couple of my friends.but it may be a little hard to get them since most arent too open to the idea of training completely with calisthenics.otherwise, it would be just us ):

Hey all!

I'm just wondering if this team is still up and running. A big fan of the Bar-barians and looking to get it going again.
Would be awesome to have you spearhead the group, Jaz, you still around in Singapore?

Cheers

Hey man, how's it going?

Seems like we're the few ones left! I'm definitely interested in Bodyweight training and most of my workouts consists of bodyweight only movements. I train around Bukit Timah area but am looking for IPPT training areas as they have the bars that I need.

Lemme know how things go, aye.

Hey Seraphsquirrel

More than welcome to join us! Just got a few people interested at the moment but I don't think they'll be a big group just yet. There's another dude that's looking to join us and he's pretty advanced but its always a good start. Just put down some numbers so I know where we're at in terms of level of training =)

Pullups: 8
Dips: 12
Pushups: 25
Inverted rows: 15

So as you can see, still fairly new to calisthenics and always welcoming more information on how to get better

Sup, Seraphsquirrel

I was going to say awesome but that's not really cool especially if you have an injury.

Awesome numbers for pullups and dips, I'm not sure how you can say that you're weak!

What is probably going to be helpful to you is that I'm a physiotherapist and I might be able to give you a hand with those injuries, eh?

Cheers

hmm my grip is weak, i find it hard to hang on the bar for long periods of time, so im training on that.

my left knee has a bad creaking sound, and my r shoulder seems to slightly sublax. knee giving pains now n then, but shoulder seems ok.

Grip is a b*tch to deal with and my grip sucks to the max - I probably could do a hold for about 30 secs before my forearms give out.

Left knee sounds, as long as the sounds are painfree then, its okay. However, knee pain can be worked on...bodyweight squats and single leg BW deadlifts might be helpful. I've got a s**t right knee as well. Shoulder subluxation may require you to do some rotator cuff work to strengthen it a bit and maybe work on a "packed" down shoulder position when you're in the dead hang portion of the pull up.

Still keen to meet up, people? Anyone else keen to join in? Recommend time and places to meet, guys/girls. I'm still fairly new to Singapore and I tend to focus on IPPT training areas as good places to meet & greet

Fine with any day. I'm more familiar with the east side, but central would be good as well. Suggest a place. I'm on for it.

Hmm I actually don't know a place though, just suggested central cause I though it would be more...central for everyone? We're just looking for someplace with a pullup and dip bar right?

I've been trying to search online but not really anything promising.

Looking at Toa Payoh near the MRT station, there's quite a nice IPPT training area there. Thinking of getting these locations mapped so that other members will be able to find them and train.

For me at the mo, I'm having to stick to pull ups on the monkey bars and playgrounds. It's not the ideal but it works anyway.

So, shall we plan a meet soon?
