Which pyramid would you say is *more* effective? The 2-4-6-8-10-8-6-4-2 or the 1-2-3-4-5...etc.? With the first one you are only getting in 52 total reps, while the other one is nearly twice... But, is it all really about number of reps?

You guys don't take rests between sets in pyramid training, do you? I often take a good 30-60sec break between the heavier sets, especially near the end, of I am fighting to finish (or failing slowly to finish...I am a stubborn son of a b**ch..) ;-)

This week I've been doing pyramids on pushups (12 up and then down) and pullups (5 up and then down, twice) and was planning on doing shoulder presses tomorrow...

what do you mean by effective? more effective for what? it depends on your goals. Just do everything and then you will have all the bases covered, supersets, pyramids, ladders... no one thing is more effective than the other, the key is to do them all to get the most benefit.

and yes i do take rest, usually between 15 and 20 secs

You're right, I suppose nothing is indefinitely more *effective* than the next routine... Variety, variety, variety... My goal is to increase my pushup/pullup count. Because how many chicks can say they can do even 10 pullups?!? ;-) I am a little over half way there...
