PostSubject: Elbow pain   Mon May 25, 2009 6:01 am

Hey guys,

I've been trying to go hard and train almost every day like the rest of the barr family, but lately I've been getting pain in my right elbow. The pain is right above the elbow joint. I think it's where the triceps connect to the elbow, but what do I know? From what I've been reading I think this might be tendinitis, which is a total bummer because I've read that all you can do is rest. I guess I have to take the day off and stick to core and legs. I sure hope it goes away soon.

Yep, sounds like tendonitis. I had the exact same problem. I started training OAP but couldn't do anything with my right arm - it hurt so much, even though the tendonitis was mild. I could still do push-ups and pull-ups but I decreased the frequency a bit so that I could heal up.

I'm happy to say that it's completely gone now - back to OAP training!

Anyway, give it some rest - there's still plenty of other stuff to do. Like you mentioned - hit your core.

Good luck!

I've been trying to train so damn hard, but the elbow just gets worse. I really want to get strong enough so I can post a vid and not look like a chump, but I think I'll just have to slow it down. It hurts the most when I do dips and push ups, but it also hurts when I try to do typewriter pull ups and behind the neck pull ups, so I guess that leaves straight form pull ups and chin ups. I'm going to see how that goes. I know if i took a couple days off it would probably feel better, but I am having trouble even taking one day off. I think I need help. I'm starting to sound like LittleBeastM.

I'm gonna get some footage together eventually, but I'm really hoping to get my first muscle up before I post anything.

I got so much damn money on the bar this weekend that I might have to open a savings account. Unfortunately my elbow wouldn't let me do any dips and only limited push ups. I think I need to accept the fact that if I don't let it get better, I won't be able to do pressing exercises anymore. I know this sounds crazy, but I'm not going to touch the bar for four days. I'm going to stick to core and legs until Friday and then I pray that when I get on the dip bars there will be no pain.

Lol! Classic quote right there!

You're right though - rest up and concentrate on other parts of your body, like your core. Four days off should help.

When I had elbow pain, I could still do muscle-ups, but I couldn't go as hard as usual. Now that my elbow is healed up, I'm going to start training OAC/OAP again. I'm hoping to get the negatives down soon, but damn, they're hard!

Right on man, those one armed techniques are the hardest in the biz, but I'm sure you'll get them. It's all about puttin' in that work and keeping that dedication, but you know all that. You saw those Highlandaz progression videos. Anything is possible. Dedication and heart is everything.

I got the same friggin problem... two days of solid muscle up attempts had my elbows hurting so bad. I thought it would go away, but a week later it's still with me. Nothing to do but stop training or go really easy.
